Microscopy Lab

The EM Lab offers the tools and technical expertise for research and training in microscopy with both light and electron microscopes. The lab operates two electron microscopes (one scanning and one transmission electron microscope), confocal laser scanning microscope and the ancillary equipment needed for preparation of specimens for EM and other microscopy. The EML's variety of light microscopes encompasses optics for bright, field, phase contrast, and fluorescence imaging. The EM Lab also uses "Image Pro" for image analysis and measurements. There is a Sony Cybershot 501 Digital camera with adaptors to be used with either the fluorescent or dissecting microscope.

Users of the EML can request full technical services in microscopy so that they are provided with whatever micrographs and analyses they want for given specimens, or they can work independently on the EML's microscopes, specimen, preparation equipment, and darkroom facilities following appropriate training by the EML staff.
