LAKE ALFRED, Florida – In the fall, students will have two courses to choose from at the University of Florida Citrus Research and Education Center.
FOS 5561, Citrus Processing Technology will be held on Tuesdays from 4 until 7:30 p.m. and will be taught by Dr. Jose Reyes. The course will focus on grading, inspection, sampling, extraction, and concentration of citrus products emphasizing manufacturing and quality assurance. Dr. Reyes is an assistant professor of Food Processing Engineering. The course is three credits and the prerequisite is Under-graduate course in food processing.
HOS 6545, Citriculture I, is the second course offered. This three hour credit course focuses on the regulation of citrus vegetative growth including climatic, physiological, and cultural factors. The three credit course will be taught by Dr. Gene Albrigo, professor of Horticulture Science, on Wednesday evenings (time to be determined). The prerequisites are FRC 3212 and 4223, HOS 5544 or equivalent.
These courses are part of the UF continuing education program and are open to graduate students and anyone with the prerequisite courses listed.
