Dr. Ron Brlansky, University of Florida, Citrus Research and Education Center, Lake Alfred, Florida received the Frederick L. Wellman Award at the XXI Annual Meeting of the APS Caribbean Division March 19-22, 2011 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This award recognizes a scientist who has an outstanding career as a plant pathologist. it is the highest distinction bestowed by the division to a distinguished plant pathologist who has worked during his or her career for the betterment of the science and profession in the context of the Caribbean Division. Wellman, for whom the award is named, was the founder and first president of the Caribbean Division.
